Creating a logo template in Photoshop is easy! First, open up Photoshop and create a new document. Make sure the document is at least 1000px x 1000px.

Next, create a new layer and name it “Logo.” Then, using the Rectangle Tool (U), draw a rectangle that is 400px x 400px. Center the rectangle horizontally and vertically on the canvas.

Now, we are going to add some text to our logo. Create a new layer and name it “Text.” Using the Horizontal Type Tool (T), click somewhere near the center of the canvas and type out your company name.

I’m going to use the font “Avenir” for this tutorial, but feel free to use whatever font you like. Next, change the color of the text by clicking on the “Color” swatch in the Options Bar. I’m going to use a dark grey color for my text.

Once you have your text looking how you want it, select both the “Logo” layer and the “Text” layer and go to Edit > Auto-Blend Layers. This will automatically create a mask for your two layers, which will allow us to fade the text into the background.

Finally, all we need to do is add our brand colors to the logo. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Solid Color.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop, we do not recommend using this tutorial to create a logo template.

Choose your first brand color from the Color Picker and click “OK.” Create a clipping mask for this layer by holding down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) and clicking between the Solid Color layer and the “Logo” layer in your Layers panel. Repeat this process for your second brand color.

And that’s it! You’ve now created a simple yet effective logo template in Photoshop that you can use over and over again.
