How Do I Create a Member Area in Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 12:08 am

Are you a Squarespace user looking to create a members-only area on your website? Whether you’re looking to start an online course, sell products or services, or simply want to give your members exclusive access to certain content on your site, creating a members-only area is a great way to do it.

And thankfully, Squarespace makes it easy to do just that. In this article, we’ll show you how to create a member area in Squarespace in just a few simple steps.

First, you’ll need to create a new page on your Squarespace site. To do this, simply go to the Pages section of your site’s dashboard and click the “Add Page” button.

From here, you can choose the type of page you want to add. For our purposes, we’ll choose the “Standard” page type.

Once you’ve added the new page, give it a title (e.g. “Members Area”) and then click on the “Settings” tab in the Page Editor.

Here, you’ll see an option called “Page Password”. Check the box next to this option and enter a password for your members area. Now, anyone who tries to visit this page will be prompted for the password before they can view its contents.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to create a member area on Squarespace, be aware that there are some potential risks. First, if you are using Squarespace’s built-in membership features, your members’ information will be stored on Squarespace’s servers. This means that if Squarespace experiences a data breach, your members’ information could be compromised. Additionally, if you are using a third-party service to power your member area, there is a risk that the service could experience an outage or other issue that would prevent your members from accessing the content they paid for.

Now that you’ve created the page and added a password, it’s time to add some content. This can be anything from text and images to videos and audio files. Simply edit the page like you would any other page on your Squarespace site and add whatever content you want your members to have access to.

Once you’re happy with the content of your members area, it’s time to set up restrictions. To do this, go back to the “Settings” tab in the Page Editor and scroll down to the “Content Restrictions” section. Here, you can choose who has access to your members area by selecting one of three options:

  • Everyone: This means anyone, regardless of whether they’re logged in or not, will be able to view the contents of your members area.
  • Logged In Users: This means only users who are logged into their Squarespace account will be able to view your members area. If someone tries to visit the page without being logged in, they’ll be prompted to log in first.
  • Specific Members: This means only users who are specifically invited by you (via their email address) will be able to view your members area.

If someone tries to visit the page without being invited, they’ll see an error message.

You can read more about setting up content restrictions here. Once you’ve chosen who has access to your member area, click “Save” and you’re all set!

Creating a member area on your Squarespace website is easy and only takes a few steps.

First, create a new page for your member area.

Second, add a password for your member area.

Thirdly, add content restrictions so only specific people can access it.

And that’s it! You’ve now successfully created a member area on your Squarespace website.<
