Creating a symbol in Figma is a simple process that can be completed in just a few steps.

First, open the file that contains the object you want to turn into a symbol. Then, select the object by clicking on it.

With the object selected, click on the “Create Symbol” button in the toolbar at the top of the screen. This will open the “Create Symbol” dialog box.

PRO TIP: When creating a symbol in Figma, be sure to use the correct symbol type for your purposes. There are four types of symbols: component, master, instance, and override. If you use the wrong type of symbol, you may not be able to edit it later or it may not work as intended.

In the “Create Symbol” dialog box, you will need to give your symbol a name and choose whether it should be an instance or a component. Once you have made your selections, click on the “Create” button and your symbol will be created.

Now that you have created your symbol, you can use it in other files by clicking on the “Insert Symbol” button in the toolbar and selecting your symbol from the list. You can also edit your symbol by double-clicking on it in the Symbols panel.

Creating a symbol in Figma is a quick and easy process that can be completed in just a few steps. Whether you want to use an existing object or create a new one, Figma makes it easy to turn any object into a reusable symbol.
