Vector graphics are computer graphics images that are defined in terms of 2D points, which are connected by lines and curves to form polygons and other shapes. Each of these points has a definite position on the x-and y-axis of the work plane and determines the direction of the path; further, each path may have various properties including values for stroke color, stroke width, fill color, etc.
Vector graphics are stored in a format (usually EPS or SVG) that is independent of the resolution of the final display device (such as a monitor or printer). This means that they can be scaled to any size without losing quality—meaning you can make a vector graphic as large as you want!
Creating a vector logo in Canva is easy! First, select the “Design” tab from the top menu bar.
Then, click on the “Custom Dimensions” button in the upper left-hand corner. A pop-up window will appear; enter your desired width and height for your logo. For this example, we’ll use 500px x 500px.
Next, choose your background color by clicking on the “Background” tab in the upper right-hand corner. A color picker will appear; simply click on your desired color, or enter a hex code. For this example, we’ll use white (#FFFFFF).
Now it’s time to add your text! Click on the “Text” tab in the upper left-hand corner and start typing out your message.
Once you’re happy with your text, you can change the font by selecting “Change Font…” from the drop-down menu. You can also change the color of your text by clicking on the “Color” tab in the upper right-hand corner. Again, simply click on your desired color or enter a hex code.
To add an icon or image to your logo, click on the “Uploads” tab in the upper left-hand corner and upload your file. Once it’s uploaded, you can drag and drop it into place.
When you’re happy with your design, click on the “Download” button in the upper right-hand corner and select “PNG” from the drop-down menu.
