PRO TIP: This Photoshop tutorial will show you how to create a water overlay effect. The tutorial uses a photo of a girl in a pool, but you can use any image you like. You’ll need to use the Photoshop distort tool to create the water ripple effect. Be careful when using this tool, as it can distort your image if you’re not careful.

Assuming you have a basic understanding of Photoshop and its layering system, let’s get started on how to create a water overlay in Photoshop.

The first step is to create a new layer in your Photoshop document. To do this, go to the ‘Layer’ menu at the top of the screen and select ‘New Layer’. Alternatively, you can press ‘Shift+Ctrl+N’ on your keyboard to create a new layer.

Once you have created a new layer, it’s time to add some water to it. The easiest way to do this is by using the ‘Paint Bucket Tool’. To select this tool, go to the ‘Tools’ palette on the left side of the screen and click on the icon that looks like a paint bucket.

Once you have selected the ‘Paint Bucket Tool’, make sure that your new layer is selected in the ‘Layers’ palette and then click anywhere on your image. Doing this will fill your new layer with water.

Now that your layer is filled with water, we need to add some movement to it. To do this, go to the ‘Filter’ menu at the top of the screen and select ‘Gaussian Blur’.

This will bring up a dialog box where you can enter in a radius for the blur. A radius of 5 should be enough to give your water some movement.

Once you have applied the Gaussian Blur filter, your water should now have some movement to it. The last thing we need to do is change the blending mode of this layer.

To do this, go back to the ‘Layers’ palette and change the blending mode from ‘Normal’ to ‘Screen’. This will make your water appear more transparent.

And that’s it! You now know how to create a water overlay in Photoshop. Experiment with different blending modes and filter settings to get different effects.

Creating a water overlay in Photoshop is relatively simple and only requires a few steps. First, create a new layer in your document.

Next, use the Paint Bucket Tool to fill your new layer with water. Finally, apply a Gaussian Blur filter and change the blending mode to Screen.
