How Do I Customize My WooCommerce Sidebar?

One area where you can really customize your WooCommerce store is the sidebar. The sidebar is a great place to add important information about your store, such as your shipping policy, contact information, or even a link to your blog.

How to Customize Your WooCommerce Sidebar

There are two ways you can customize your WooCommerce sidebar: with the default settings or with a custom sidebar. Let’s take a look at both options.

Option 1: Customize Your Sidebar Using Default Settings

WooCommerce comes with a few default sidebars that you can choose from. To access these sidebars, go to Appearance > Widgets. You should see a list of sidebars on the left side of the screen and a preview of each sidebar on the right.

To customize a sidebar, simply drag and drop the widgets you want into the appropriate sidebar. For example, if you want to add a contact form to your sidebar, you would drag and drop the Contact Form 7 widget into the Sidebar 1 widget area.

You can also rearrange the order of your widgets by clicking and holding on a widget, and then dragging it up or down.

Option 2: Customize Your Sidebar Using a Plugin

If you want more control over your sidebar, you can use a plugin like Custom Sidebars.

This plugin lets you create custom sidebars and assign them to specific pages or posts on your website.

To use this plugin, first install and activate it. Then click on Appearance > Sidebars. You should see a list of all the sidebars on your website.

Click & hold on a widget to rearrange it.

Option 3: Use Custom CSS to Change Your Sidebar

If you’re comfortable working with code, you can also use CSS to change how your sidebar looks.
For example, let’s say you want to change the background color of your sidebar.
You would add this code to your child theme’s stylesheet:

.widget-area { background-color: #f1f1f1; }

This code would change the background color of all widget areas on your website.
If you only want to Target the sidebar, you would add this code instead:

.sidebar { background-color: #f1f1f1; }

You can also use CSS to change other aspects of your sidebar like its width or padding.
