Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 8:47 pm

Versioning is a way of ensuring that your data is always accessible and up-to-date, even if there are updates to the underlying technology or software.

Google Cloud Storage supports versioning out of the box. To enable versioning, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Google Cloud Storage console.

2. Select the storage bucket or object you want to enable versioning for.

3. Select the “Versioning” tab.

4. Select the “Enable versioning” checkbox.

5. Select the “Versioning settings” tab.

6. Enter the versioning settings.

7. Select the “Update bucket version” checkbox.

8. Select the “Update object version” checkbox.

9. Select the “Update version” drop-down menu.

10. Select a versioning type.

11. Select a versioning strategy.

12. Select a destination for the versioned data.

13. Click “Create versioning settings.”

14. The versioning settings are saved.

Now, you can use the versioning settings to update your data. To update a bucket or object version, follow these steps:

PRO TIP: – Versioning is a feature of Google Cloud Storage that you can use to preserve, retrieve, and restore every version of an object stored in a bucket.

– When you enable versioning on a bucket, all objects added to the bucket receive a unique version ID.

– Once versioning is enabled, you cannot disable it. You can only suspend versioning on a bucket, which retains all of the objects and their versions in the bucket.

2. Select the storage bucket or object you want to update. Select the version you want to update. Click “Update.”

9. The bucket or object is updated with the new version.

Now that you’ve enabled versioning, make sure you understand the versioning settings and how to use them. Versioning can ensure that your data is always accessible and up-to-date, even if there are updates to the underlying technology or software.
