How Do I Export a Figma Design File?

Last updated on December 1, 2022 @ 1:29 pm

Figma is a vector graphics editor and design tool, developed by San Francisco-based startup Figma. The software is available online and for macOS and Windows. Figma has been described as “the Google Docs of design tools” because it enables real-time collaboration between designers, and has an interface that is similar to other vector graphics editors such as Adobe Illustrator.

If you’re working on a design project with someone who uses Figma, you may need to export a Figma design file. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the design file in Figma.
  2. Click on the File menu in the top-left corner of the screen.
  3. Click Export from the drop-down menu.
  4. Select the file format you want to export the design as. For example, you can export it as an image (PNG or JPEG), vector graphic (SVG), or PDF.
  5. Click Export. Your design will be exported as the selected file type.
