How Do I Fix Skew in Photoshop?

When you have text in Photoshop that looks like it’s leaning or tilting to one side, that’s called “skew.” It can be caused by a number of things, but the most common is that your text layer is not centered on the document.

You can see this easily if you look at the text layer in the Layers panel. The layer will be offset to one side or the other.

To fix skew, simply select the text layer in the Layers panel and use the Move tool (V) to position it so that it’s centered on the document. If your text was created with the Type tool and it’s still selected, you can also use the Horizontal Type Tool to move it.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, adjusting the skew of an image in Photoshop can result in distorted or uneven lines. Make sure to use the ruler tool to draw a line along the edge of the image that you want to be level, and then use the skew tool to adjust the angle of the image until the line is level.

Once your text is centered, it should no longer be skewed.

If your text is still skewed after following these steps, it may be due to another issue such as a misaligned layer or an incorrect transformation.
