How Do I Get My SSL Certificate From Wix?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 4:02 am

SSL, or Secure Sockets Layer, is a protocol that enables communication between two computers across the internet. It allows for the exchange of sensitive information, such as credit card numbers and login credentials, to be exchanged between the two computers without being intercepted by a third party.

In order for SSL to work, a certificate must be installed on the server that is hosting the website. Wix.com offers SSL certificates for free with all of their hosting plans.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

How Do I Get My SSL Certificate From Wix?

The first step is to log in to your Wix account. Once you are logged in, click on the “My Sites” tab and then select the site you want to add an SSL certificate to.

Next, click on the “Security” tab in the left-hand sidebar. Under the “SSL Certificate” section, click on the “Get Started” button.

On the next page, you will be asked to enter your domain name. Enter your domain name and then click on the “Continue” button.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to get your SSL certificate from Wix, we recommend that you first check with your hosting provider to see if they offer SSL certificates. Many hosting providers offer free or low-cost SSL certificates, which can save you time and money.

On the next page, you will be asked to verify your ownership of the domain name. Wix will send an email to the address listed in your WHOIS record for your domain name. Click on the “Verify Domain” button and then check your email for further instructions.

Once you have verified your ownership of the domain name, you will be able to choose which type of SSL certificate you would like to install. Wix offers three different types of SSL certificates: Standard, Wildcard, and Multi-Domain. Choose the type of certificate that best fits your needs and then click on the “Install Certificate” button.

That’s it! Your SSL certificate will now be installed on your Wix site.

If you’re looking to add an SSL certificate to your Wix site, follow these simple steps. First, log in to your account and select the site you want to add an SSL certificate to. Next, go to Security and under SSL Certificate, click Get Started. Enter your domain name and verify ownership by clicking Verify Domain in the email sent to your WHOIS contact address.

Once verified, choose which type of SSL certificate you need and install it. That’s it! Your Wix site is now secure with an SSL certificate.
