How Do I Give Permission to Edit on Squarespace?

Last updated on December 25, 2022 @ 1:31 pm

As the owner of a website, you may want to give someone else permission to edit your Squarespace site. You can do this by adding them as a user in the Users area of your site’s Settings.

There are two types of users on a Squarespace site: administrators and contributors. Administrators have full control over the site, while contributors can only edit certain areas.

To add a user:

    1. Go to Settings > Users.
    2. Click Invite User.
    3. Enter the user’s email address and name.
    4. Select a role for the user: Administrator or Contributor.
    5. Choose the areas of the site that you want the user to be able to access.
    6. Click Send Invitation.

The user will receive an email with instructions on how to create an account and log in. Once they’ve logged in, they’ll be able to edit the areas of the site that you’ve given them access to.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, giving someone permission to edit your Squarespace website can result in them making changes that you do not want or expect. Make sure that you trust the person you are giving permission to, and be clear about what types of changes they are allowed to make.
