How Do I Import a Photo Into Photoshop?

Last updated on November 22, 2022 @ 10:47 am

There are a few different ways that you can import a photo into Photoshop. The first way is to simply go to File > Open, and then select the image that you want to open. Another way is to use the Place command, which allows you to place an image into your Photoshop document as a Smart Object.

Smart Objects preserve an image’s original quality and size, and they also allow you to non-destructively apply filters and transformations. To use the Place command, go to File > Place, select your image, and click Place.

If you want to import a photo as a background layer, go to File > Open As Background. This will add the image as a background layer, which cannot be moved or transformed without first rasterizing it. Rasterizing means converting the layer into pixels, which will permanently change the quality of the image.

PRO TIP: This article provides instructions on how to import a photo into Photoshop. However, it is important to note that Photoshop is a powerful image editing tool and should be used with caution. Improper use of Photoshop can result in edited images that look unnatural or fake.

To import multiple images at once, go to File > Scripts > Load Files Into Stack. This will bring up the Load Layers dialog box where you can select the images that you want to import. You can also choose how you want the images to be arranged in the stack – by name, date modified, or width.
