How Do I Import FIG File in Figma?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 10:30 am

Figma is a vector graphics editor and design tool, created by Dylan Field and Evan Wallace in 2012. It is available as a web app, macOS app, and Windows app. Figma is used by designers at Google, Facebook, Netflix, Uber, and 20 million other people.

Figma supports importing .fig files—the native file format for Figma documents. To import a .fig file:

  • Open the File menu
  • Select “Import…”
  • Choose the .fig file you want to import

The imported file will appear as a new frame in your document. You can edit the frame just like any other frame in Figma.

PRO TIP: When importing a FIG file into Figma, be sure to select the correct file format. Otherwise, your file may not be imported correctly and could cause problems with your design.
