How do I know if a Shopify store is legit?

When starting a Shopify store, it’s important to make sure it is legitimate. There are a few things to look for in order to determine if a store is legitimate:

The store has a validated SSL certificate.

The store is using the latest Shopify version.

The store has been verified by Shopify.

The store is using Shopify’s default templates.

The store has been active for at least six months.

PRO TIP: There are a few things to watch out for when trying to determine if a Shopify store is legitimate. First, check to see if the domain name is registered to Shopify Inc. You can do this by doing a WHOIS search on the domain name. If the store is using a subdomain (e.g. storename.myshopify.com), then it is most likely legitimate. However, if the store is using a top-level domain (e.g. www.storename.com), then it is advisable to proceed with caution as this could be a scam. Another thing to look for is customer reviews or testimonials on the store’s website. If there are none, or if they all seem fake, then that is another red flag. Finally, if the store offers unusually low prices on popular products, then it is probably too good to be true and you should avoid making any purchases from them.

If a store is not using the latest Shopify version, has not been verified, or is using outdated templates, it may be a scam.
