If you’re a web developer, it’s highly likely that you’re using GitHub as your go-to platform for storing and sharing code. And if you’re a designer, chances are you’re using Canva to create stunning visuals.

But did you know that you can link the two platforms together to make your workflow even more efficient? Here’s how:

First, head over to Canva and create an account. Once you’re logged in, click on the “Create a design” button and select “Custom dimensions” from the drop-down menu.

Enter the width and height of your choice and click “Create design. ”

Next, on GitHub, navigate to the repository that contains the code for your website. In the top-right corner of the page, click on the “Settings” tab.

Under the “Options” heading, scroll down to the “GitHub Pages” section and select “master branch /docs folder.” Save your changes.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, linking GitHub to Canva can result in losing data or overwriting files. Be sure to back up your files before linking the two accounts.

Now, back on Canva, click on the “Uploads” tab in the left-hand sidebar and select “Upload image.” Choose the image that you want to use as your website’s background and click “Open.”

Once the image has been uploaded, click on it to select it. Then, click on the “Link” icon in the top-right corner of the Canva editor (it looks like a chain link).

A pop-up window will appear; in the “Web Address” field, paste in the URL of your GitHub repository. Make sure that the “Open in new window” option is checked and then click “Insert. ”

Your background image will now be linked to your GitHub repository!
