How Do I Magnify Products on Shopify?

As an ecommerce business, it is important to have high-quality product photos. This is especially true on Shopify, where your product photos are front and center on your product page.

By default, Shopify will resize your photos to fit into a square aspect ratio. While this is fine for some products, it can distort other products, making them look less than ideal.

To avoid this, you can use the built-in zoom feature to magnify your product photos. This will allow your customers to see your products in all their glory, without any distortion.

To use the zoom feature, simply add the following code to your theme’s CSS file:

PRO TIP: If you are planning to magnify products on your Shopify store, be aware that this may have an adverse effect on your sales. While it may make products appear larger and more appealing, it can also make them appear less realistic and dissuade customers from making a purchase. If you do decide to magnify products on your store, be sure to do so sparingly and only on high-quality product images.

.product-single__photo { width: 100%; height: auto; } .product-single__photo–image { cursor: zoom-in; }

This will make sure that your product photos are always 100% width, and that they can be zoomed in on by clicking on them. Keep in mind that you may need to adjust the height of your photos if they are too tall for this setting.

Once you have added the code to your CSS file, you can test it out by going to a product page and clicking on a photo. If everything is working correctly, the photo should zoom in when you click on it. You can then click on the photo again to zoom back out.

The zoom feature is a great way to show off your products in all their detail. By using it, you can make sure that your customers see your products exactly as you want them to see them.
