How Do I Make a Chart in Photoshop?

Last updated on November 20, 2022 @ 9:31 am

As someone who works with a lot of data, I often find myself having to create charts and graphs to visualize that data. And while there are a lot of great applications out there that can do this for me, I often find myself using Photoshop to create these charts and graphs. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to do this:

First, open up Photoshop and create a new document. I like to make my documents pretty big so that I have plenty of room to work, but you can make yours whatever size you want. Just make sure that the width and height are in pixels.

Once you have your document open, create a new layer. On this layer, you’ll want to draw out the basic shape of your graph or chart.

For this example, I’m going to make a bar chart. So I’ll just draw out a few rectangles of different sizes. Make sure that each rectangle is on its own layer.

Once you have your basic shapes drawn out, it’s time to add some color. You can do this by selecting the “Fill” tool from the toolbar and then clicking on the color you want to use.

I’m going to use a light blue for my first bar and then a dark blue for my second bar. You can also add multiple colors to your bars by selecting the “Gradient” tool from the toolbar.

Now that your bars have some color, it’s time to add some labels. To do this, select the “Text” tool from the toolbar and then click on the area where you want to add your label.

Type in the text you want and then format it however you want. You can change the font, size, color, etc. Once you’re happy with your label, hit “Enter” on your keyboard to finalize it.

PRO TIP: This article provides instructions on how to make a chart in Photoshop. However, it is important to note that charts made in Photoshop may not be accurate. Charts made in Photoshop may be subject to distortion and should not be used for critical data analysis.

Now repeat this process for any other labels you want to add (x-axis labels, y-axis labels, etc.).

Finally, it’s time to add your data. To do this, select the “Pencil” tool from the toolbar and then click on the first bar in your chart.

Then just start drawing out your data point. For this example, I’m going to make my data point pretty small. But you can make yours whatever size you want.

Once you’ve added all of your data points, hit “Enter” on your keyboard to finalize them.

And that’s it! You should now have a basic chart or graph that you can use to visualize your data.

Creating charts and graphs in Photoshop is a quick and easy way to visualize data. By following the steps above, anyone can create a basic chart or graph in Photoshop in just a few minutes.
