There are many times when you may need to create a fake background in Photoshop. Maybe you’re creating a composite image and need to fill in some empty space, or maybe you’re trying to change the background of a photo.

1. Start by creating a new layer. You can do this by clicking the “New Layer” button at the bottom of the Layers panel.

4. Finally, use the Eraser tool to erase any parts of your new background that are showing through too much. Be sure to lower the opacity of the Eraser so that you don’t accidentally erase parts of the image that you don’t want to.
