With the release of Photoshop CS6, Adobe changed the way we create filmstrips. Now, instead of using the trusty old “Fit Image” command, we have to use the “Image Size” dialog box. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to make a film strip in Photoshop CS6:
1. Open your image in Photoshop CS6.
2. Go to Image > Image Size.
3.
In the “Image Size” dialog box, make sure the “Constrain Proportions” checkbox is selected.
4. Enter the width you want for your film strip into the “Width” field. For our purposes, we’ll use 3 inches.
5. Enter the height you want for your film strip into the “Height” field. For our purposes, we’ll use 1 inch.
6. Click “OK.”
7. Save your image as a JPEG file.
Now that you know how to make a film strip in Photoshop CS6, you can start creating your own unique projects!
Here are some ideas to get you started:
Create a short animation by placing multiple images into one film strip and playing it back like a flipbook.
Design a series of images that tell a story or convey a message, and then place them all into one film strip.
Use different colored backgrounds for each frame of your film strip to create a rainbow effect.
