How do I make a guide in Figma?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 6:51 pm

Figma is a fantastic tool for creating user interfaces, and there are plenty of guides and tutorials available to help users get started. However, there may be times when you need to create a custom user interface or create a guide that is not available as a standalone tutorial.

In these cases, you can use Figma’s built-in guide creation tools to create a guide that is tailored to your needs.

To create a guide in Figma, first open your project in the software. From the main menu, select File > New > Guide.

This will open the Guide Creation dialog box. In the dialog box, you can select the type of guide you want to create, enter a title for the guide, and select a template from the list.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that Figma is a design tool and not a guide-making tool. While it is possible to create a guide in Figma, it is not recommended and may lead to unexpected results.

Once you have selected the options in the Guide Creation dialog box, you will be prompted to enter some information about the guide. In the Title field, you can enter a title for the guide, and in the Description field, you can provide a brief description of the guide.

Next, you will need to select the files and folders that you want to include in the guide. To do this, click the Files and Folders button and select the files and folders you want to include in the guide.

Once you have selected the files and folders you want to include in the guide, you will be prompted to add content to the guide. To add content to the guide, click the Add Content button and select the content you want to include in the guide.

Finally, you will be prompted to save the guide. To save the guide, click the Save button and enter a filename for the guide.
