How Do I Make Text Look Distressed in Photoshop?

There are a few different ways that you can make text look distressed in Photoshop. One way is to use the ‘Add Noise’ filter.

Go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise. Set the amount to around 10% and select ‘Gaussian’ from the Distribution menu. Click ‘OK’ to apply the filter.

Next, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Set the radius to around 2 pixels and click ‘OK’.

Now go to Image > Adjustments > Levels and drag the middle slider towards the right until you start to see some white appearing in the text. Click ‘OK’ when you’re happy with the result.

Another way to distress text is to use the ‘Rough Pastels’ filter. Go to Filter > Artistic > Rough Pastels.

Set the brush size to 10 and the brush detail to 25.

You can also try using the ‘Texturizer’ filter. Go to Filter > Texture > Texturizer.

Choose a texture from the drop-down menu and set the scaling to around 50%.
