How Do I Make WooCommerce Private?

Last updated on January 15, 2023 @ 11:56 am

If you’re running a WooCommerce store, you might want to make it private for a variety of reasons. Maybe you’re selling products that are only available to a certain group of people, or you want to keep your store under wraps until it’s ready for launch. Whatever the reason, making your WooCommerce store private is relatively easy to do.

In this article, we’ll show you how to make WooCommerce private in a few simple steps.

First, you’ll need to log into your WordPress dashboard and go to the ‘Settings’ tab. From there, select the ‘Reading’ option.

On the Reading settings page, you’ll see an option that says ‘Search Engine Visibility.’ By default, this option is set to ‘Discourage search engines from indexing this site.’ You’ll want to check this box and click ‘Save Changes.’

Next, you’ll need to install and activate the Private Store plugin. Once the plugin is activated, go to the ‘Settings’ tab and select the ‘Private Store’ option.

On the Private Store settings page, you’ll see an option that says ‘Enable Private Store.’ Check this box and click ‘Save Changes.’

That’s it! Your WooCommerce store is now private.

Keep in mind that only logged-in users will be able to see your store and its contents. If you want to give someone access to your store who isn’t logged in, you can always create a user account for them and send them the login details.

PRO TIP: If you are considering making your WooCommerce store private, there are a few things you should know. First, private stores are only accessible to logged in users. This means that anyone who is not logged in will not be able to see or purchase any products from your store. Additionally, private stores are not searchable on the web, so potential customers will not be able to find your store unless they already know the URL. Finally, making your store private will likely decrease your traffic and sales, as customers will not be able to stumble upon your store while browsing the web.
