How do I put WooCommerce in maintenance mode?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 10:36 pm

WooCommerce is a popular eCommerce platform that allows users to create and manage their own stores. It is capable of handling a wide range of products and features a variety of plugins to extend its functionality.

However, like any other software, WooCommerce can become overloaded and require maintenance to keep it running smoothly.

To put WooCommerce into maintenance mode, first ensure that all the updates are installed. Once the updates are installed, go to the WooCommerce > Settings page and under the General tab, click on the Maintenance Mode button.

PRO TIP: If you are considering putting your WooCommerce store into maintenance mode, there are a few things you should be aware of. First, maintenance mode is intended for short-term use only – typically no more than a few hours. If you plan to keep your store in maintenance mode for an extended period of time, it is recommended that you take your store offline completely. Second, when your store is in maintenance mode, it will be inaccessible to both customers and search engines. This means that any sales or traffic you would normally generate will be lost while your store is in maintenance mode. Finally, be sure to test your site thoroughly after taking it out of maintenance mode to ensure that everything is working as it should.

This will activate the Maintenance Mode and you will now need to follow the instructions on the screen to ensure that the WooCommerce store is running smoothly.

Once the store is in Maintenance Mode, you will not be able to make any changes to the settings or the products in the store. However, you will still be able to manage your customers and orders.

If you need to return to the default settings, you can deactivate the Maintenance Mode by clicking on the Maintenance Mode button again.

When the store is in Maintenance Mode, it is important to keep an eye on the performance and functionality of the store. If you notice any issues, you can either deactivate the Maintenance Mode or contact WooCommerce support for assistance.
