How Do I Redirect a Domain to Another Domain Wix?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:48 am

If you want to move your website from one domain to another, you can do so by redirecting your domain. You can redirect your domain in a few different ways, but the most common is through your DNS settings.

To redirect your domain, you will need to set up what is called a DNS CNAME record. A CNAME record is a type of DNS record that points one domain to another. When you set up a CNAME record, anyone who visits your old domain will be automatically redirected to your new domain.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to redirect a domain to another domain using Wix, be aware that there are some potential risks involved. First, if you do not properly configure the redirection, you could end up with a broken website. Second, if you are not careful, you could inadvertently redirect traffic away from your intended destination. Finally, be sure to test your redirection before making it live to avoid any potential problems.

If you’re not sure how to set up a CNAME record, you can contact your DNS provider and they will be able to help you. Once you have set up your CNAME record, it can take up to 24 hours for the redirection to take effect.

In some cases, you may also need to set up an A record. An A record is a type of DNS record that points a domain to an IP address. If you’re not sure whether or not you need to set up an A record, you can contact your DNS provider and they will be able to help you.

Once you have redirected your domain, anyone who visits your old domain will be automatically redirected to your new domain. You don’t need to do anything else!
