How Do I Remove a Domain From Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 3:42 am

If you’re no longer using a domain connected to your Squarespace site, you can remove it to keep your account organized and tidy. There are two ways to remove domains from your Squarespace account:

If you own the domain: In the Home Menu, click Settings, then click Domains. Click the domain you want to remove, then click Delete. Once you delete the domain, it’s available for anyone to register.

If you want to keep the domain for future use, you can unpublish it instead.

If you don’t own the domain: If someone else owns the domain and you’re no longer using it, ask the owner to delete it from their registrar account. Once they delete it, it’s available for anyone to register.

To unpublish a domain:

In the Home Menu, click Settings, then click Domains. Click the domain name, then click Unpublish. This removes your site from that domain without deleting the domain from your account. You can republish the domain at any time.
