How Do I Remove Dust From an Image in Photoshop?

Last updated on January 25, 2023 @ 5:48 pm

Removing dust from images in Photoshop is a relatively easy process, and can be accomplished with just a few clicks of the mouse. There are two main ways to remove dust from images in Photoshop: the Clone Stamp tool and the Healing Brush tool.

Both tools work by sampling pixels from one area of an image and then applying those pixels to another area. The Healing Brush tool is generally considered to be the better option for removing dust, as it does a better job of matching the texture, color, and lighting of the surrounding pixels. However, both tools can be used effectively to remove dust from images.

To use the Clone Stamp tool to remove dust from an image:

  1. Open the image in Photoshop.
  2. Select the Clone Stamp tool from the Tools palette.
  3. In the Options bar, set the brush size and hardness to appropriate values.
  4. Click on an area of the image that is free of dust.
  5. Hold down the Option key (Mac) or Alt key (Windows) and click on another area of the image.
  6. Release the Option or Alt key, and then click and drag over the area of the image that contains dust. The sampled pixels will be applied to the area you are dragging over.
PRO TIP: This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to remove dust from an image in Photoshop. However, it is important to note that this process can damage your image if not done correctly. Therefore, it is advised to use this method only as a last resort and to always backup your image before attempting this fix.
