Shopify Payments is the easiest way to accept payments on Shopify. It’s available in over 50 countries, and there are no setup or transaction fees. You can use Shopify Payments even if you’re not based in the United States.
To set up Shopify Payments:
1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payment providers. 2. Under “Accept credit cards,” click Complete account setup or Add another provider. This takes you to the Shopify Payments page. 3.
Enter your country and currency, then click Activate Shopify Payments. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process. If you’re not using Shopify Payments, then you need to choose a third-party payment gateway and set it up on your store. There are over 100 payment gateways that work with Shopify, so you’ll need to compare them and choose the one that’s best for your business. Some of the most popular payment gateways include PayPal, Stripe, and Authorize.net.
To set up a third-party payment gateway:
1. Under “Accept credit cards,” click Choose a provider.

When you find a gateway that you want to use, click its name to read more about it, then click Activate gateway under its name to add it to your list of active gateways.
