How Do I Set Up Payments on Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 2:50 am

Setting up payments on Squarespace is a simple process that can be completed in just a few steps. First, you’ll need to create an account with Stripe, our recommended payment processor.

Once you’ve done that, you can connect your Stripe account to your Squarespace site and start accepting payments. Here’s how:

1. Create a Stripe account. If you don’t already have one, you can sign up for a Stripe account at stripe.com.

Creating an account with Stripe is free, and only takes a few minutes. You’ll need to provide some basic information about yourself and your business, as well as your bank account details so that Stripe can deposit your payments.

2. Connect your Stripe account to Squarespace. Once you’ve created your Stripe account, you can connect it to your Squarespace site. To do this, log in to your Squarespace account and go to the Payments page.

Under the Accept Credit Cards section, click the Change Payment Method button and select Stripe. You’ll be prompted to enter your Stripe API keys, which you can find in your Stripe dashboard.

3. (Optional) Set up billing. If you want to start accepting payments right away, you don’t need to do anything else.

However, if you want to set up billing for recurring payments (such as subscriptions), you’ll need to add some additional information in your Stripe dashboard. For more information on setting up billing, see our help document.

And that’s it! You’re now ready to start accepting payments on your Squarespace site.

Note:

The following instructions are for setting up payments if you’re using the Legacy Platform.

PRO TIP: If you are thinking about setting up payments on Squarespace, be warned that there are some potential risks involved. First of all, you will need to input your credit card information into the system, which could be susceptible to hackers. Additionally, you may be charged hidden fees by Squarespace, so be sure to read the fine print carefully before signing up.
