How Do I Set Up USPS Shipping on Squarespace?

Last updated on December 27, 2022 @ 7:45 pm

There are two ways to set up USPS shipping on Squarespace: using the Shipping Calculator, or by manually adding shipping rates. If you plan to sell physical goods, we recommend using the Shipping Calculator. The Shipping Calculator is the easiest way to offer shipping to your customers, and it integrates with Squarespace Commerce.

To set up USPS shipping using the Shipping Calculator:

  1. Log into your Squarespace account and go to Commerce > Settings. Then, click Shipping.
  2. Click Add Shipping Method. Select United States Postal Service (USPS). If you don’t see USPS as an option, make sure you’ve entered a valid United States address in your site’s Location settings.
  3. Enter your USPS account information. If you don’t have a USPS account yet, sign up for one here. You’ll need to enter:

    • Account Number: Your 9-digit USPS account number. You can find this in the upper right corner of any mailing label printed from your USPS account.
    • (Optional) Meter Number: Your 5-digit meter number. You can find this under the “My Profile” tab after logging into your USPS account.

Manually adding shipping rates

  1. (Optional) Set a default shipping rate.

(Recommended) If you want customers to see shipping rates automatically on product pages and in the cart, set a default shipping rate before adding specific product shipping rates.

PRO TIP: USPS Shipping is a great option for Squarespace users who want to ship their products. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when using this service.

First, make sure that your products are properly packaged and labeled. USPS requires that all packages be clearly labeled with the sender’s name, address, and telephone number.

Second, be aware of the weight and size restrictions for USPS Shipping. Packages that are too large or too heavy will not be accepted by USPS.

Third, remember that USPS Shipping is not available in all areas. If you’re shipping to an area that is not serviced by USPS, you’ll need to use another shipping method.

    • In the Default Shipping Rate section, select whether you want to charge shipping by order or by item, and then enter a price.
