How Do I Straighten an Image in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 9:02 pm

There are a few different ways that you can straighten an image in Photoshop. One way is to use the Ruler tool.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to use Photoshop to straighten an image, be aware that there are a few things that can go wrong. First, if the image is not properly cropped, you may end up with unwanted areas in the final image. Second, if the image is not properly aligned, you may end up with a crooked image. Finally, if you do not use the correct setting for the straighten tool, you may end up with an distorted image.

With the Ruler tool selected, click and drag on the image to draw a line that you want to use as a reference for straightening. Then, go to Image > Image Rotation > Arbitrary, and enter in the angle that you want to rotate the image by.

Another way to straighten an image is by using the Crop tool. With the Crop tool selected, click and drag on the image to draw a box around the area that you want to keep. Then, go to Image > Rotate Canvas > Arbitrary, and enter in the angle that you want to rotate the image by.

Once you’ve rotated the image, you can crop it down to size using the Crop tool again. Just make sure that you uncheck the “Delete Cropped Pixels” option in the options bar before cropping, or else you’ll lose part of your image.
