There are a few reasons you might want to take down your Squarespace site. Maybe you’re no longer using the site and want to cancel your subscription.

Or maybe you’re redesigning your site and need to take it down temporarily while you work on it. Whatever the reason, taking down a Squarespace site is easy to do.

To cancel your Squarespace subscription:

If you’re sure you want to cancel your Squarespace subscription and delete your site, you can do so from your Account Settings. Just log in to your account, click on “Billing & Account,” and then select “Cancel Service.”

PRO TIP: Warning:

Taking down a Squarespace site can be tricky and may result in losing important data or content. Make sure you backup your site before taking it down.

To take down your site temporarily:

If you need to take down your Squarespace site for a short period of time, you can put it in Maintenance Mode. This will disable all features of your site, including the ability to log in, but it will still be visible to visitors. They’ll just see a message saying that the site is currently unavailable.

To put your Squarespace site in Maintenance Mode, log in to your account and go to the “Settings” tab. Under “Site Management,” select “Maintenance Mode.”

Then just choose how long you want the site to be unavailable and click “Save. ”

Conclusion: Taking down a Squarespace site is easy to do, whether you’re cancelling your subscription or just putting the site in Maintenance Mode for a short period of time.
