If you have a smart object in your Photoshop project that you want to remove, there are a few ways to do it. One way is to simply select the layer that contains the smart object and press the delete key. This will remove the layer from your project.

Another way to remove a smart object is to right-click on the layer that contains the smart object and select “Convert to Linked.”

This will break the link between the smart object and your project, and you can then delete the layer as usual.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop Smart Objects, be very careful when following the steps in this article. Smart Objects are a powerful feature that can easily be misused, resulting in lost work or unwanted changes to your image.

If you want to keep the smart object but just want to edit it, you can double-click on the smart object layer thumbnail. This will open up the smart object in a new window where you can make changes. When you’re finished, just save and close the window and your changes will be applied to your project.
