There are a couple of ways to unlock the crop ratio in Photoshop. One way is to go into the Preferences menu and under the General tab, uncheck the “Lock Image Pixels Aspect Ratio” option. This will allow you to change the crop ratio without Photoshop automatically adjusting the other dimension.

Another way to unlock the crop ratio is to hold down the Alt key (Windows) or Option key (Mac) while you are dragging a corner point of the cropping border. This will also allow you to change the crop ratio without Photoshop automatically adjusting the other dimension.

PRO TIP: This article provides instructions on how to unlock the crop ratio in Photoshop. However, it is important to note that this may cause some unexpected results, and should be done with caution.

If you want to be able to change the width and height independently of each other, you’ll need to use the Free Transform tool. To do this, select the layer that you want to transform and go to Edit > Free Transform, or press Ctrl/Cmd+T.

Then, hold down the Shift key and drag one of the corner points outwards or inwards. This will change both the width and height independently of each other.

The crop ratio can be a useful tool for ensuring that your images are properly proportioned, but sometimes it can be a hindrance if you’re trying to change the size or shape of your image. Luckily, there are a couple of ways to unlock it so that you can make the changes that you need without any restrictions.
