How Do I Upload a File to My Root Directory Squarespace?

The best way to upload a file to your root directory is through FTP (File Transfer Protocol). You will need an FTP client in order to connect to your server and transfer the file.

1) Connect to your server using an FTP client (we recommend FileZilla).

2) Once connected, navigate to your root directory.

3) Upload the file that you wish to transfer.

4) That’s it! Your file will now be in your root directory.

If you don’t have an FTP client or are having trouble connecting, you can always contact our support team and we’ll be happy to help!

PRO TIP: Uploading a file to the root directory on Squarespace can be a risky move and is not recommended unless you are absolutely sure of what you are doing. This is because uploading a file to the root directory can potentially overwrite other files in the directory, which could cause serious problems. If you do decide to upload a file to the root directory, make sure that you have a backup of the original file just in case something goes wrong.
