How do I upload a template to Joomla?

When creating a new Joomla site, the first thing that you need to do is to choose a template. There are many different templates to choose from, but the most popular ones are the default templates that come with Joomla.

If you want to create a new site from scratch, you can use the Template Manager to choose a template or use a premade template.

To upload a template to your Joomla site, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your Joomla site.

2. Click the Site Manager link in the top menu.

3. In the Site Manager window, click Templates.

4. In the Templates window, click the Upload button.

5. In the Upload Template window, locate the template file that you want to upload and click Open.

6. In the Select Template Files window, select the files that you want to include in the template.

7. Click OK to upload the template.

8. Click the Activate button to activate the template.

9. Click the Back URL link to return to the Site Manager window.

10. In the Site Manager window, click the Pages link to view the pages that are based on the template.

11. Click the Edit link to edit the template.

12. To make changes to the template, click the Edit Files button and then click the files that you want to change.

13. To remove a file from the template, click the Remove Files button and then click the file that you want to delete.

14. To save your changes to the template, click the Save button.

15. Click the Close button to close the Templates window.

16. Click the Publish button to publish the template.

17. Click the Close button to close the Site Manager window.

18. Click the Back URL link to return to the Joomla site.

19. In the Joomla site, click the Pages link to view the pages that are based on the template.

20. Click the Close button to close the Joomla site.

21. Click the Back URL link to return to the template upload window.

22. In the Upload Template window, click the Cancel button to return to the previous screen.

23. To upload another template file, click the Upload button and then click the file that you want to upload.

 

24. In the Upload Template window, click the Save button to save the changes that you have made to the template.

25. Click the Close button to close the Upload Template window.

 

PRO TIP: When uploading a template to Joomla, it is important to make sure that the template is compatible with your version of Joomla. If the template is not compatible, it may not work properly or may even cause errors on your website. Always check the compatibility of a template before uploading it to your Joomla website.
