When using the Selection tool in Photoshop, you can click and drag to create a selection, or click on the “Select All” button in the upper left corner of the workspace. To select a specific area, first click on the “Select” menu and then click “Rectangular Marquee.” Next, click and drag to create a selection.

PRO TIP: The Selection Tool in Photoshop can be used to select an object in an image. However, if you are not careful, you can also accidentally select the background. Be sure to deselect the background before making any changes to the object.

You can also use the “Elliptical Marquee” tool to create a circular or elliptical selection. To select multiple areas, hold down the “Shift” key and click on each area you want to select. To deselect an area, hold down the “Ctrl” (Windows) or “Cmd” (Mac) key and click on the area you want to deselect.
