How Do I Use WooCommerce Weight Based Shipping?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 3:49 pm

There are a few different ways to use WooCommerce weight based shipping. You can either use it as your default shipping method, or you can use it as an additional shipping method.

If you want to use it as your default shipping method, you can set it up in the Shipping tab under WooCommerce Settings. If you want to use it as an additional shipping method, you can add it to your cart page by going to the Cart tab and then selecting the Shipping Methods tab.

Once you have WooCommerce weight based shipping set up, you will need to add your products’ weights. You can do this by going to the Products tab and then selecting the product you want to edit. From there, you will scroll down to the Shipping section and enter the product’s weight in the Weight field.

After you have added your products’ weights, you will need to set up your shipping zones. Shipping zones are areas that you ship to.

To set up a shipping zone, go to the Shipping tab and then select the Shipping Zones link. From there, you will click on the Add Shipping Zone button.

In the Add Shipping Zone dialog box, you will need to enter a Zone Name and then select the countries that are in that zone. Once you have done that, click on the Save changes button.

PRO TIP: If you are using WooCommerce Weight Based Shipping, please be aware that your shipping charges may not be accurate if the products in your cart have different weights. This is because the shipping charges are calculated based on the total weight of the products in your cart, not the weight of each individual product.

After you have saved your changes, you will need to add a shipping method to your zone. To do this, go back to the Shipping Zones page and click on the Edit link next to the zone you just created. In the Edit Shipping Zone dialog box, select the Add Shipping Method drop-down and choose Weight Based Shipping from the list.

Once you have added WooCommerce weight based shipping as a shipping method, you will need to configure its settings. To do this, go back to the Shipping tab under WooCommerce Settings and click on the Weight Based Shipping link.

In the Weight Based Shipping settings page, you will need to enter a title for your shipping method, choose which countries it applies to, and enter a default weight unit. You will also need to decide whether or not you want to charge for shipping per order or per item. Once you have entered all of this information, click on the Save changes button.

WooCommerce weight based shipping is a great way to ship your products if you have products of different weights. It is also a great way to save money on shipping if you are only charging for shipping per order instead of per item.
