How Do You Add a Background Color to Text in Canva?

Last updated on December 4, 2022 @ 5:06 pm

There are many ways to add background color to text in Canva. The first way is to simply select the text box and then click on the paint bucket icon in the top toolbar. This will open a color palette where you can choose any color you like.

Another way to add background color to text is to use the text editor. Simply highlight the text you want to add color to, then click on the “Text” drop-down menu in the top toolbar and select “Background Color.” This will open a color palette where you can choose any color you like.

If you want to add background color to only part of your text, you can use HTML tags. To do this, simply type “< p >” before the text you want to add color to, and “< /p >” after.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that adding a background color to text in Canva can be tricky. If you are not careful, the text can become unreadable.

In between these two tags, type the code for the color you want to use. For example, if you want your text to be red, you would type
“< p style="color:red;" >TEXT HERE < /p >“.

You can also use the “< b >” and “< u >” tags to bold or underline your text.
