How Do You Alt Text in Squarespace?

One way to make your site accessible is to use alt text. Alt text is a short description of an image that is displayed instead of the image itself. It’s important to use alt text so that people with visual impairments can understand what’s on your website.

There are a few different ways to add alt text in Squarespace. The first way is to add it when you upload an image.

When you upload an image, there will be a field where you can enter alt text. Make sure to enter a brief, accurate description of the image.

PRO TIP: When adding alt text in Squarespace, be sure to use descriptive text that accurately describes the image. Avoid using generic terms like “image” or “picture.”

The second way to add alt text is to edit the HTML of your website. To do this, go to the page where you want to add alt text and click on the gear icon. This will bring up the HTML editor. In the HTML editor, find the code for the image you want to add alt text to.

It will look something like this: . Add the following code after the img src code: alt=”your alt text here”. Replace “your alt text here” with a brief, accurate description of the image.

The third way to add alt text is with the Image Block. To do this, go to the page where you want to add an image and click on the + icon. This will bring up a list of blocks you can add.

Select the Image Block and upload your image. When you upload your image, there will be a field where you can enter alt text.
