Mascara is one of the most important products in a woman’s makeup bag. It can help your eyes look bigger, brighter and more awake. But what happens when you want to apply mascara in Photoshop?
Here are five easy steps to follow when adding mascara to a photo in Photoshop:

For example, if you are not careful, you may end up with clumpy or smeared mascara, which can be very difficult to fix. So, if you decide to use Photoshop to apply mascara, be sure to take your time and be gentle.
- Open the photo you want to edit in Photoshop.
- Click on the ‘Layers’ tab at the top of the screen.
- Click on the ‘New Layer’ icon at the bottom of the ‘Layers’ tab.
- In the ‘New Layer’ window that pops up, name the layer ‘Mascara’ and click ‘OK.’
- Select the ‘Brush Tool’ from the toolbar on the left side of the screen.
Now that you have your ‘Mascara’ layer created and your brush selected, it’s time to start painting on some mascara!
- Zoom in on the area of the photo where you want to apply mascara. You can do this by clicking on the ‘Zoom Tool’ in the toolbar and then clicking on the area you want to zoom in on.
- Start painting on some mascara! To do this, simply click and drag your brush across the lashes. The color of your brush will determine what color mascara is added.
You can experiment with different colors to see what looks best.
- When you’re finished adding mascara, zoom out of the photo so you can see the whole image again.
- Click on the ‘Layers’ tab and then click on the ‘Flatten Image’ icon at the bottom of the tab. This will combine all of your layers into one so you can save your image.
- Click ‘File’ > ‘Save As.’ In the window that pops up, choose where you want to save your image and click ‘Save. ‘
