How Do You Change the BG in Figma?

Figma is a great tool for designers and front-end developers. It has a lot of features and it’s constantly improving. One thing that I think is missing from Figma, however, is the ability to easily change the background color of an element.

This can be a problem when you’re working on a design that has a lot of different background colors. For example, let’s say you’re working on a design for a website that has a light blue header and a dark blue footer. In Figma, you would have to create two separate layers – one for the header and one for the footer – and then change the background color of each layer separately.

It would be much easier if you could just change the background color of an element in Figma. Luckily, there’s a workaround that lets you do just that.

First, create your design in Figma. Then, open the “Settings” panel and click on the “Advanced” tab. Next, click on the “Export” button and select “SVG” from the drop-down menu.

Now, open the SVG file in your text editor and look for the “fill” attribute. For each element that you want to change the background color of, add a “fill” attribute with the hex code of the color you want to use.

Save your changes and open the SVG file in your browser. You should see your design with the new background colors.

The only downside to this method is that it doesn’t work with raster images (JPEG, PNG, etc.). But for designs that are mostly vector graphics, this should be a quick and easy way to change the background color of elements in Figma.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Figma, we recommend that you do not attempt to change the BG in Figma. Doing so could result in unwanted changes to your design.

Save your changes and open the SVG file in your browser. You should see your design with the new background colors.
