How Do You Deselect a Specific Area in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 2:58 pm

When you have a selection in Photoshop, it’s easy to add to that selection or remove parts of it. Sometimes, though, you need to start over from scratch.

To do that, you need to know how to deselect a specific area in Photoshop.

There are a few different ways to deselect a specific area in Photoshop. The first way is to click on the “Select” menu and then choose “Deselect”.

This will deselect the entire image. If you only want to deselect a part of the image, you can use the ” Marquee” or “Lasso” tool.

To use the “Marquee” tool, click and drag around the area that you want to deselect. To use the “Lasso” tool, click and drag around the area that you want to keep selected.

You can also use the “Magic Wand” tool to select an area of similar colors.

PRO TIP: While deselecting a specific area in Photoshop can be a useful tool, it is important to be careful when using this function. If you are not careful, you may accidentally deselect the wrong area, which can lead to unwanted results.

Once you have your selection made, you can invert it by clicking on the “Select” menu and choosing “Invert”. This will select everything except for the area that you’ve selected. You can also add or subtract from your selection by holding down the “Shift” key while you make your selection.

No matter what method you use, deselecting a specific area in Photoshop is easy once you know how. So get out there and start experimenting!

To deselect a specific area in Photoshop, you can use the Select menu, Marquee tool, Lasso tool, or Magic Wand tool. You can also invert your selection or add to it by holding down the Shift key.
