There are a few things you need to have in order to make a 5 minute countdown video on Canva. You will need an account with Canva, access to a computer, and internet connection.
Once you have all of those things, you can follow these simple steps:
1. Go to Canva.com and sign in or create an account.
2. On the main dashboard, click on the “Create a design” button.
3. A pop-up menu will appear. Select “Custom Dimensions” and enter 1280 x 720 for the width and height.
4. Click on the “Create New Design” button at the bottom.
5. You will be directed to a blank canvas. On the left-hand side of the screen, there is a vertical toolbar full of different features and tools. Find and click on the “Elements” tab.
6. A new menu will open up with different types of elements that you can add to your design.
7. For this particular design, we are going to be using images and shapes.
8. Find an image that you want to use for your countdown timer and drag it onto the canvas.
9. Resize the image so that it fills up most of the canvas.
10. Add a text box underneath the image and type in “5 Minute Countdown”. Change the font to something Bold or Decorative.
11. To make a timer, we are going to use a couple of different shaped tools.
12. First, select the “Oval” tool from the “Shapes” menu and draw out a circle.
13. Next, select the “Line” tool and draw a line from the top center of the circle down to the bottom center.
14. Finally, select the “Rectangle” tool and draw out a rectangle that covers half of the oval shape. Change the color of this shape to something other than black.
15. Now we need to add some numbers inside of our shapes so that people will know how much time is left in the countdown. To do this, select the “Text” tool from the vertical toolbar on the left-hand side of the screen.
16. Start by adding a number 5 inside of our big oval shape. Change the color of this text so that it is visible against our background.
17. For our line shape, we are going to need 11 more numbers.
18. Select the “Text Box” tool again and type out each number (1 through 11). Place these text boxes evenly along our line.
19. For our final shape (the rectangle), we only need one number which will be our starting point (5).
Add this number inside of our rectangle.
20. All that is left to do now is animate our shapes! To do this, select each shape one at a time and click on the “Animate” button in the top right-hand corner.
21. A pop-up menu will appear with different animation options.
22. For our oval shape, we are going to choose “Spin clockwise”.
23. For our line shape, we are going to choose “Draw path”.
24. Finally for our rectangle shape, we are going to choose “Bounce up & down”.
25. Once you have animated all of your shapes, hit play in order to see your countdown timer in action!
