How Do You Make a GIF on Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 8:40 pm

There are many ways to make a GIF on Photoshop. The most common way is to create a frame animation.

To create a frame animation, first open the animation window by going to Window > Animation. You will see a timeline appear at the bottom of the window.

Next, create your individual frames. To do this, simply create a new layer for each frame.

You can do this by going to Layer > New > Layer. Once you have your frame layers created, you can add your content to each one.

Once you have all of your content added, it’s time to start animating! To do this, select the layer that you want to start with and click on the Add Frame Animation button at the bottom of the timeline.

A pop-up window will appear asking you how you want to animate your GIF. Select Create Frame Animation. You will then see your frames appear as thumbnails in the timeline.

Now, all you need to do is select the order that you want your GIF to play in and how long you want each frame to appear for. You can do this by clicking and dragging the thumbnails in the timeline. You can also click on the timing options button at the top of the timeline to change the duration of each frame.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop, this guide may be difficult to follow. Additionally, creating a GIF in Photoshop can be time-consuming and may require multiple attempts to get the desired outcome.

Once you’re happy with how your GIF looks, simply click on the Play button at the bottom of the timeline to preview it. If you’re happy with what you see, go ahead and save your GIF by going to File > Save for Web.

That’s it! You’ve now successfully created a GIF on Photoshop.
