How do you make a spray effect in Illustrator?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 6:28 pm

In this tutorial, we will show you how to create a spray effect in Adobe Illustrator. This effect can be used to create a realistic water droplet effect in your illustrations.

To create the spray effect, we will use the Pathfinder panel and the Drop Shadow filter.

First, create a new document in Illustrator and set the size to 900 x 600 pixels.

Next, use the Rectangle tool to create a square shape in the center of the document.

Next, use the Ellipse tool to create an ellipse around the square.

Next, use the Gradient tool to add a gradient to the ellipse.

Next, use the Pathfinder panel to move the ellipse to the bottom-left corner of the square.

PRO TIP: This question is often asked by people who are new to Adobe Illustrator. The answer is simple: you need to use the Spray Tool.

However, there are a few things you need to keep in mind when using this tool. First, the Spray Tool is best used on small areas. If you try to use it on a large area, the results will be very messy.

Second, when using the Spray Tool, you need to be careful not to overdo it. Too much spray can ruin your design.

Third, the Spray Tool is not effective on all types of surfaces. If you’re working on a glossy surface, it’s best to use a different tool.

Next, use the Drop Shadow filter to shadow the ellipse.

Next, use the Pathfinder panel to move the ellipse up and to the right.

Finally, use the Rectangle tool to create another square in the top-left corner of the document.

Next, use the Gradient tool to add a gradient to the square.

Next, use the Pathfinder panel to move the square to the bottom-left corner of the ellipse.

Next, use the Drop Shadow filter to shadow the square.

Finally, use the Pathfinder panel to move the square up and to the right.

Your final spray effect should look like the image below.
