How do you make an old TV effect in Photoshop?

Making an old TV effect in Photoshop is easy. First, create a new file with a desired dimensions. I used an 8×10 inch file for this example. Next, select the background layer and delete it. Now, create a new layer and fill it with black. Select the text layer and type in the desired text.

PRO TIP: This effect may not work well on all types of TVs. Use at your own risk.

I used the following text: “Old TV Effect Tutorial.” Next, use the layer mask to mask off the bottom half of the text. This will create the illusion that the text is looking down at the TV. Finally, use the Filter menu to apply the Gaussian Blur filter to the text layer. This will create the aged look.
