How Do You Photoshop on iMessage?

When you receive a message in iMessage, there is a little camera icon next to the text box. If you tap on this icon, you can take a photo or video right then and there and send it along without ever having to leave the app. But what if you want to edit that photo or video before sending?

You can actually do a pretty decent amount of editing right within iMessage. To start, tap on the camera icon again and select the photo or video you want to edit. Once it’s loaded into the editor, you’ll see a bunch of different options at the bottom of the screen.

If it’s a photo, you can choose to crop it, add filters, or adjust the brightness. For videos, you can trim them down to just the part you want to share. Once you’re happy with your edits, tap on the blue arrow to send it off.

But what if you want to do even more with your photos and videos? Luckily, there’s an easy way to do that too.

Just long press on the photo or video in question and tap “Edit in Photos.” This will open up the full-fledged Photos app where you can do even more editing before sending.

PRO TIP: When you “photoshop” on iMessage, you are actually just sending a photo that has been edited on your computer. This can be misleading to the person you are sending the photo to, as they may think it is an unedited photo.

So next time you’re in iMessage and want to quickly edit a photo or video before sending it off, remember that you don’t have to leave the app to do so. Just use the built-in tools or long press and “Edit in Photos” for even more options.
