How Do You Select and Move an Object in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 11:27 am

There are a few different ways to select and move an object in Photoshop. You can use the Move tool, which is located in the Tools palette.

To use the Move tool, simply click and drag the object to where you want it to go. You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to nudge the object in small increments.

If you need more precise control over your movement, you can use the Transform command. To access the Transform command, go to Edit > Transform > Transform or use the shortcut CTRL/CMD + T. This will bring up a bounding box around your object.

PRO TIP: Be careful when using the ‘Select and Move’ tool in Photoshop, as it is easy to accidentally move or delete objects without meaning to. Always check your work carefully after using this tool to make sure that everything is in the correct place.

From here, you can click and drag any of the handles to move or resize your object. If you need to move your object in small increments, you can hold down the Shift key while using the arrow keys on your keyboard.

You can also rotate an object by hovering outside of one of the corner handles until you see a curved arrow appear. Then click and drag to rotate your object. Holding down the Shift key while rotating will constrain the rotation to 45-degree angles.

Once you’re happy with your transformation, press Enter/Return to apply it. If you need to cancel your transformation for any reason, press Esc on your keyboard.
