How Do You Write Equations in Canva?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 8:53 pm

If you want to get really creative with your text in Canva, you can write equations!

To write equations in Canva, you’ll need to use the “Text” tool. Once you’ve selected this tool, click on the area of the canvas where you want to add your text. A text box will appear, and in this box you can start typing your equation.

For example, let’s say we want to write the equation for a straight line: y = mx + b.

PRO TIP: Canva is not a scientific or mathematical application and should not be used to write equations. The equation editor in Canva is basic and does not support more complex mathematical notation. This could lead to confusion and errors when working with equations.

In the text box, we would first type “y = mx + b.” Then, we would select the “m” and the “x” by clicking and dragging our mouse over them.

To style these letters as variables, we would click on the “V” icon in the top toolbar. This will change the selected letters to italics, indicating that they are variables.

Finally, we would select the “y” and the “+ b” and style them as well by clicking on the “V” icon. And that’s it! We’ve now written our equation in Canva using basic HTML.

Conclusion: You can write equations in Canva using the Text tool and basic HTML. To write an equation, type it out in the text box and then select the letters that should be styled as variables. Click on the “V” icon in the top toolbar to change these letters to italics.
