How does WooCommerce shipping work?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 9:42 pm

When a customer orders a product from WooCommerce, the checkout process will typically involve selecting the shipping method. WooCommerce will then calculate the shipping cost and provide the customer with a shipping quote.

If the customer decides to proceed with the purchase, they will be required to enter their shipping information.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that WooCommerce shipping is a complex topic. There are many variables to consider when configuring WooCommerce shipping, such as your products’ dimensions and weights, shipping zones, and carrier options.

Before attempting to configure WooCommerce shipping, we recommend doing some research and reading our documentation on the subject. Failing to properly configure WooCommerce shipping could result in unexpected shipping charges, delays in fulfilling orders, or other problems.

Once the customer has entered their shipping information, WooCommerce will create a shipping order and track the progress of the order. If the order is cancelled or the customer changes their mind about the purchase, WooCommerce will contact the shipping company to update the shipping information.

Once the order has been shipped, WooCommerce will notify the customer and the shipping company.

WooCommerce shipping works in a similar way to other eCommerce platforms, such as Shopify. However, WooCommerce offers a more user-friendly interface and is therefore more popular among online retailers.
